Telltale Games Announces October Start Date for Minecraft: Story Mode

Independent game developer Telltale Games has announced the premiere dates for the first instalment of its upcoming Minecraft-based episodic adventure, Minecraft: Story Mode. 'Episode 1: The Order of the Stone' will have its digital premiere on October 13. Two days later it will launch for compatible devices on Apple's App Store and Google Play.

According to an entry on the Telltale Games blog, 'The Order of the Stone' will be the first of five episodes in this season of Minecraft: Story Mode. The initial digital download will be available for PC and Mac from the Telltale Online Store, from Steam, from the PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, and on the Xbox Games Store for the Xbox One and Xbox 360.  Releases for the Wii U and PlayStation Vita have been promised at a future data.

Telltale Games has released a teaser trailer for Minecraft: Story Mode, which can be seen below. In the game you will be able to play as a character called Jesse, who can be male or female. The game will offer three different looks for the player to choose from for either gender. Gameplay will revolve around what is described as 'a perilous adventure across the Overworld, through the Nether, to the End, and beyond.'

'You and your friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect; slayers of the Ender Dragon,' states the official description. 'While at EnderCon in hopes of meeting Gabriel the Warrior, Jesse's friends discover that something is wrong... something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and you must set out on a quest to find The Order of the Stone if you are to save your world from oblivion.'



Telltale specializes in episodic games and has also released series based The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones.
