The month of April has ushered in a bounty (not The Bounty, that was last month) of great titles debuting on Blu-ray via boutique label Twilight Time. Each is a limited edition release (the Twilight Time standard is a 3,000 copy pressing, though select titles receive a 5,000 copy run). Richard III (1995)
This adaptation transplants Shakespeare’s 16th century play to an imagined fascist England of the 1930s. Ian McKellen not only stars as Richard, he’s also credited as co-screenwriter along with director Richard Loncraine. The distinguished supporting cast includes Annett Bening, Kristin Scott Thomas, Robert Downey Jr., Nigel Hawthorne, Jim Broadbent, and Maggie Smith. Limited to 3,000 copies.
