End of the Proverbial DVD Line: Mama's Family: Mama's Favorites - Season 6

Yes, we're a bit late in throwing this out there, but it's necessary because Mama's Family is one of the most beloved sitcoms in television history. Though Time Life has already done an exemplary job rolling out complete season sets, they've followed up with individual sampler releases intended for the budget-conscious (or those who simply feel a little Mama goes a long way; of course, unconfirmed studies have revealed that many of those consumers wind up purchasing the full seasons after realizing the samplers aren't quite enough). At any rate, Mama's Family: Mama's Favorites Season Six hit retailers over the summer and it remains a perfectly acceptable way to dip your toe in the sixth (and final) season waters.

The inimitable Vicki Lawrence of course starred in Mama's Family as the brash-but-lovable Thelma Harper. And it's highly appropriate that Lawrence herself personally selected the six episodes featured on each of these highlights discs. For season six, she chose: "Mama Fights Back," "Bubba's House Band," "The Big Nap," "Pinup Mama," "Look Who's Breathing," and "Bye-Bye - Baby!" (the latter is the series finale).

Season six of Mama's Family originally aired 1989-1990, but the series actually began back in 1983. All 130 episodes are available on DVD via Time Life (including altogether in a giant box set).
